Violence against women and children affects everybody. It impacts on the health, wellbeing and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support and criminal justice systems.

INFOGRAPHICS

Social media infographics: 2021 NCAS findings for young Australians

These social media infographics designed for sharing highlight key findings from the 2021 NCAS for young Australians aged 16 to 24 years old.

The NCAS is a periodic, representative survey of the Australian population that is conducted every four years. The NCAS measures the Australian community’s understanding and attitudes regarding violence against women, their attitudes towards gender inequality and their intentions to intervene when witnessing violence or disrespect against women.

These social media infographics are shareable resources that summarise key findings for young Australians aged 16 to 24 years from Attitudes matter: The 2021 National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS), Findings for young Australians (“Young Australians report”). These social media infographics have been developed to assist with online communications.

Specifically, the infographics cover:

  • changes over time in understanding of violence against women and attitudes towards this violence and gender inequality
  • gendered differences in attitudes and understanding
  • views about consent
  • recognition of violence against women as a problem in Australia and locally
  • intention to intervene prosocially when witnessing verbal abuse
  • knowledge of domestic violence services.

The infographics are available in the appropriate specifications for Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. ANROWS encourages users to share these infographics with their networks and to include a link to the 2021 NCAS Young Australians report where possible.
