Our research

Violence against women and children affects everybody. It impacts on the health, wellbeing and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support and criminal justice systems.

#SpeakingOut@Work: Sexual harassment of LGBTQ young people in the workplace and workplace training

  • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, Tuesday, 3rd December 2024
  • AEDT | Livestream & Western Sydney University | Cost: Free

On Tuesday 3 December, ANROWS will be hosting a hybrid event to release a new research report led by Distinguished Professor Kerry Robinson, #SpeakingOut@Work: Sexual harassment of LGBTQ young people in the workplace and workplace training.

This report is a national study examining LGBTQ young people’s (aged 14-30 years) experiences of workplace sexual harassment.

The study uncovers the gaps in the understanding of sexual harassment experienced by LGBTQ young people in the workforce and the impact of these experiences.

These findings are crucial in informing workplace policy and practice specific to LGBTQ young people, and what actions need to be taken for workplaces to be safe and inclusive.

At the event, you will hear ANROWS CEO, Dr Tessa Boyd-Caine, speak to the significance of the report, and Professor Kerry Robinson and her team will provide an overview of the report’s key findings and implications. The report’s authors will join young LGBTQ advocates, Cathryn Pudner and Jae Charlton to unpack the study’s findings around the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people, the intersections between workplace sexual harassment and other forms of violence and discrimination, and the importance of changing workplace culture.
