Our research

Violence against women and children affects everybody. It impacts on the health, wellbeing and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support and criminal justice systems.

Supporting regional collaboration through evidence-informed practice

Family Safety Collaboration Planning Forum | Wellington

ANROWS is pleased to support the 2026 Family Safety Collaboration Planning Forum, hosted by the Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies (ACWA) in Wellington on Tuesday 10 February.

The forum brings together services and agencies from across child protection, domestic and family violence, education, youth, police and justice systems to strengthen collaborative responses for children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence, with a strong focus on regional and rural practice contexts.

As part of the program, Youna Kim, Deputy Director, Communications and Engagement at ANROWS, will deliver a training session focused on translating national research into practical guidance for practitioners.

The session draws on the ANROWS 2024 publication In their own right: Actions to improve children and young people’s safety from domestic, family and sexual violence, centring children as victim-survivors with their own rights, voices and ongoing safety needs.

It will explore how evidence can be applied in everyday practice to support coordinated, child-centred responses, particularly in regional and rural communities.

ANROWS values the opportunity to support ACWA and regional partners in embedding evidence into practice and strengthening system responses that improve safety and outcomes for children and young people.
