Violence against women and children affects everybody. It impacts on the health, wellbeing and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support and criminal justice systems.

ANROWS was established by the Commonwealth and all state and territory governments of Australia to produce, disseminate and assist in applying evidence for policy and practice addressing violence against women and children.

Nisha Padmanabhan

DIRECTOR, INDEPENDENT


Nisha Padmanabhan is a respected executive and non-executive director, known for her collaborative leadership and ability to deliver strategic outcomes across the corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors.

As Chief Risk Officer at The University of Sydney, Nisha leads enterprise-wide risk management and governance initiatives that support the university’s mission and long-term resilience.

With a track record of success in complex and changing environments, Nisha has held senior roles at BPAY, Macquarie Group Limited, Insurance Australia Group, and Ernst & Young, as well as serving as Chief Risk Officer at The Salvation Army, Australia Eastern Territory. She currently serves as an independent director and Chair of the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee at ANROWS, and has contributed her expertise to the boards and advisory committees of organisations such as Baptist World Aid Australia, Transform Aid International, and Habitat for Humanity Australia.

Nisha is recognised for applying best-practice risk and governance principles to achieve impactful results and for her commitment to advancing the missions of the organisations she serves.
