Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) will advise on a family violence index to measure how well family violence is being addressed in Victoria.

Today the Victorian Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence, Fiona Richardson, announced that ANROWS has been commissioned by the Victorian Government to provide advice on the Victorian Family Violence Index. ANROWS will define what measures, statistics and data should be included in the index.

ANROWS CEO Heather Nancarrow said she welcomes the opportunity to work with the Victorian Government on this innovation.

“The Victorian Family Violence Data Index will help the Victorian Government measure its effectiveness in addressing family violence, and provide guidance for future policy development and resource allocation, she said.”

ANROWS is a national research organisation that aims to build evidence that will guide policy and practice aimed at addressing the high rates of domestic, family and sexual violence against women and their children.
